Advocacy at the ACLU of Indiana

In addition to litigation and education, the ACLU seeks to preserve and uphold civil liberties by advocating for justice, equality and freedom.

The ACLU works to empower citizens to take an active role in defending their civil liberties. When citizens advocate, they express their concerns and priorities, press for recognition of their rights and insist on the importance of their voice in public policy.

The ACLU of Indiana monitors many bills in both the Indiana House and Senate that have the potential to either positively or negatively impact civil liberties in Indiana. We raise public awareness of these important issues and highlight opportunities for people to get involved.

The ACLU is the nation's guardian of liberty. We keep vigil on everyone's rights – immigrants, refugees, people of color, LGBTQ community, women, the press, protesters, people of faith. But we need you to stand up with us. Know when action is needed:
