LegalACLU of Indiana defends freedom and protects liberty as guaranteed by the U.S. and Indiana Constitutions. The cases we choose to litigate often receive a great deal of attention, because the issues we address cut close to the way people live their lives or give a new focus to debates that are as old as the republic itself. We do not enter into litigation lightly. We receive over 10,000 requests for help every year. From those 10,000 we generally file 40 lawsuits. Also at the heart of what we do is to solve problems by educating public officials on the way they have violated the Constitution. Whether we are filing a high profile lawsuit or quietly counseling a small-town mayor on constitutional principals, our goal is the same—to protect civil liberties defend the human spirit. If you are a lawyer, and would like to join our ACLU of Indiana Lawyers Council, which participates in and supports our litigation efforts on behalf of the Bill of Rights, please click here for a brochure about our Lawyers Council.
