The following bills would prohibit or limit decreasing local police department budgets. These pieces of legislation emphasize how reducing law enforcement budgets will reduce public safety, while we know that more policing does not equate to less crime. We oppose any attempt to take power away from local communities to hold police accountable and to prevent police violence by reinvesting into community programs and services that have been proven to improve public safety such as mental health services and education.
