The enforcement of marijuana laws generates some of the justice system’s starkest racial disparities. In Indiana, Black people are more than 3.5 times more likely than white people to be arrested for marijuana possession. The Indiana General Assembly should pass marijuana legalization bills and should prioritize racial justice and equity in reform efforts in order to address the harms that marijuana laws have inflicted upon Black and Brown people for decades.
