This bill would prohibit the use of state funds to pay for any costs associated with an abortion and prohibit any payments or referrals to an outside organization to perform an abortion. It would also prohibit the use of hospital or ambulatory surgical facilities to perform these medical procedures.

Not only is access to abortion already unequal in Indiana, but the likelihood of needing one in the first place is similarly disproportionate. The more adversity you face in your life—like being low-income or a person of color—the more likely you are to experience an unintended pregnancy that may lead you to seek an abortion. Abortion is healthcare and Hoosiers should have access regardless of how much money they make.
