SB 480 prohibits families and doctors from providing age-appropriate, evidence-based care for youth who require it. By banning nearly all forms of science-based care available to trans youth, this bill would forcibly deprive some youth of life-saving care that they are already receiving.

SB 480 is part of a coordinated campaign to drive transgender people, particularly youth, out of public life. Bills such as these violate the rights of parents and families to make decisions about their children’s health. Young people who are trans need support and affirmation, not to be a political target. We oppose any bill that takes away potentially life-saving care from trans youth.
