Studies of the experiences of LGBTQ students in K12 schools in Indiana have found high levels of bullying and discrimination. 80% of transgender youth in Indiana schools report mistreatment by teachers and peers. Fully 1 in 5 Hoosier transgender students report being physically attacked for being trans. This bill extends certain anti-discrimination education rights statutes to prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity.
