Phone Banking

Volunteer to Phone Bank with Us

Phone banking and text banking with the ACLU empowers volunteers to contact voters to mobilize support for key civil rights and educate citizens about their voting rights. While the virtual phone bank is live, the ACLU of Indiana advocacy team will host 30-minute Zoom orientation/training sessions to help volunteers navigate how-to phone bank and answer questions. ACLU of Indiana phone banks are conducted remotely. No prior experience is necessary. You only need a phone, computer, and internet access to participate from the comfort of your home. You will use provided scripts to help voters register, inform them of what’s on their ballot or encourage them to turn out to the polls. Once trained, volunteers may make calls on their own schedule, while the phone bank link is active, (and so long as calls are made within the hours of 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. local time of person being called).

Art of Politics Posters

The Art of Politics Poster Show

The Art of Politics is a one-night poster show and online auction. Over 60 local Indianapolis artists and designers create protest art & politically inspired posters. The posters will be on display and available for sale through a live silent auction. Topics range across all political issues including abortion rights, climate crisis, religious freedom, women’s rights, LGBTQ+ rights, gun control, for/against political candidates, voting, Black Lives Matter, and immigration. The event allows artists to stand up, speak out, engage the public, and support a cause. Any message they want to communicate, for any cause they’d like to support. It’s a free speech event, and all views are welcome. 100% of auction proceeds are sent to the non-profit organization of the artist’s choice. Every poster serves a different cause. Causes in the past have included ACLU, Planned Parenthood, The National Wildlife Federation, Women for Change, The National Park Foundation, United Against Book Bans, Teach Indy Now, and so many others. To date, over $10,000 has been raised and donated to such important causes.

Banned Book Club

Banned Book Club Finale: In-Person Discussion of Cat's Cradle

Join us at our final 2026 Banned Book Club meeting, and it's in person! We will meet at the Kurt Vonnegut Museum and Library in Indianapolis to discuss Vonnegut's book, Cat's Cradle. As classroom censorship bills sweep state legislatures, schools are removing books by and about LGBTQ people, BIPOC, and other marginalized groups from curricula and libraries at an unprecedented rate. Last year, more than 111 bills aiming to limit discussions about race and gender in the classroom have been passed or introduced in state legislatures. These efforts effectively erase voices, histories and lived experiences from students’ K-12 education. We will be joined by Indy Reads and Freedom to Read Indiana.

South Bend Popular Education Summit

We are in the fight of a lifetime to defend our rights, our freedoms, and our democracy and this is a moment that calls for courage, connection, and action. Organizations and individual activists are invited to join the ACLU of Indiana’s South Bend Popular Education Summit on October 16. This free, high-impact, one-day training experience is designed to give you the tools to organize, mobilize, and lead in this critical moment. Together, we’ll learn in community: strengthening our collective ability to cooperate across organizations, building solidarity for immigrant rights, and engaging effectively in local and statewide campaigns that protect the civil rights of all Hoosiers. This summit is for those ready to turn urgency into strategy and outrage into action. Our communities need bold leadership and we need you in the room. Space is limited. We ask that you commit to the full day and bring someone with you. Organizing is relational, and lasting power is built together. Now is the moment to stand up, link arms, and lead. Join us, and be part of building durable power for immigrant rights and civil liberties across Indiana. Brought to you by ACLU of Indiana, National Immigration Justice Center, and La Casa De Amistad.
