Reproductive Freedom & Women's Rights

The decision to have a child or not belongs to each individual woman, her family, her doctor and no one else. But laws that make it difficult if not impossible for a woman to get an abortion if she needs one are increasing.

Women's Rights

We defend bodily autonomy by protecting timely, affordable access to the full range of reproductive health care — including abortion. Politicians often interfere with that decision. Abortion is one of the most common medical procedures performed today, and it’s incredibly safe. But laws that make it difficult if not impossible for a woman to get an abortion if she needs one, particularly if she is poor, are increasing at an alarming pace.

The ACLU works to ensure that every woman can make the best decision for herself and her family about whether and when to have a child without undue political interference.
