Organizational Overview The ACLU of Indiana is a nonpartisan organization dedicated to protecting and expanding civil liberties and civil rights across the state. We practice an integrated advocacy model: legal, policy, communications, organizing, and community engagement staff set priorities and work together. Litigation is one of several tools, used alongside legislative and administrative advocacy, public education, coalition-building, and community partnership to dismantle systemic inequities, uphold constitutional protections, and advance lasting structural change, centering the communities most impacted by injustice. Same Mission, Wider Reach. The ACLU of Indiana is building its integrated advocacy team so that it reaches more Hoosiers and wins more durable change. Our mission has not changed. What is changing is how we pursue it: a tightly targeted, strategic docket chosen against shared organizational priorities rather than intake volume; litigation planned alongside legislative, communications, and organizing strategy from the start; and deeper partnership with the ACLU National Legal Department, other affiliates, and cooperating attorneys. The attorneys we hire now will help design this program, not just inherit it.
