Call Your Officials and Hold Elkhart Police Accountable

It is clear from the investigative reporting done by ProPublica and the South Bend Tribune, that  Elkhart Police Officers cannot police themselves.

Prisoners' Rights in Indiana DOC Facilities

The ACLU of Indiana is representing two prisoners at the Wabash Valley Correctional Facility, and was recently granted  a preliminary injunction concerning the Indiana Department of Correction (DOC) facilities' policy that all incoming correspondence to prisoners must be in a plain white envelope and the correspondence must be on originally purchased, plain white, lined paper. The policy, Executive Directive #18-34, severely restricts the type of non-legal mail that can be sent to prisoners.

Anti-Semitic Graffiti Found at Carmel Synagogue

We were deeply saddened by the news that Congregation Shaarey Tefilla, a Carmel, Indiana synagogue, was vandalized with anti-Semitic graffiti over the weekend. The ACLU of Indiana will do everything we can to support Jewish community members and continue to promote an open, interreligious dialogue. An act of such hatred and defacement is appalling. No individual should be discriminated against, or made to feel intimidated, based on who they are or where they worship.
