The Indiana Business Network brings together business leaders, employers, and community partners who believe civil liberties are essential to a strong future for our state. Through advocacy, public education, and community engagement, members can help defend freedom, equality, and justice for all Hoosiers while supporting a state where people want to live, work, and invest.

Join Our Values-Driven Business Network

Local businesses help shape the future of Indiana. When business leaders speak up for civil liberties, advocacy, and democratic participation, their communities listen.

The ACLU of Indiana has developed a business network with owners and local leaders who want to put their values into action and speak up on pressing issues in our state.

Ways to Get Involved

Advocating for civil liberties and civil rights can take many forms. We partner with business leaders and representatives who are organizers, communicators, community builders, and trusted local voices.

This can look like:

  • sharing information on upcoming elections
  • marking civic holidays to foster civic engagement with colleagues and clients
  • speaking with elected officials during and outside the legislative session
  • inviting an ACLU of Indiana speaker to present on policies affecting your community
  • organizing or hosting a local action (sign-making, letter-writing or a community event) in your third space
  • displaying posters, coasters, or window clings
  • submitting a letter to the editor
  • speaking up at a local school board meeting
  • sharing your story with us

Whether you are a practiced or burgeoning advocate, we can help you amplify your values.

A Growing Tradition of Business Engagement

he ACLU of Indiana began working closely with Indiana’s business community in response to anti-LGBTQ legislation proposed in 2015 through the Religious Freedom Restoration Act. In part, the law was intended to allow business owners to ignore local anti-discrimination ordinances. Business leaders across Indiana spoke out clearly and forcefully, helping drive positive changes to the law.

Later, when Indiana lawmakers moved to eliminate access to reproductive freedom, more than 800 businesses across 90 cities and towns signed a public letter in support of reproductive rights. After the state enacted a near-total abortion ban, Indiana businesses continued speaking out through our Let’s Talk About Abortion campaign.

In early 2024, businesses across Indiana helped encourage voter participation by sharing posters, coasters, and window clings with information about voter registration and key election dates. Today, businesses are continuing this work by offering voter mobilization palm cards, coasters and stickers and displaying ACLU-IN Hoosier Values posters and yard signs that reflect the values of respect and dignity.
