Ashley Toruno is a Community Engagement and Policy Advocate at the ACLU of Indiana. As a recent graduate from Indiana University, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Public Affairs with a focus in community development. Born and raised in central Indiana, Ashley is a first generation American and comes from a family of resilient Nicaraguan immigrants. Her passion to pursue a career in community organizing comes from her previous work as an advocate for minority communities. In her current role, Ashley works to develop and implement a variety of advocacy strategies to build support for the ACLU's work, further its programmatic goals, and increase public awareness and appreciation of civil liberties.
