Show up. Speak out. Stand with LGBTQ+ Hoosiers. On Wednesday, January 28, 2026, the ACLU of Indiana and partners will gather at the Indiana Statehouse to affirm equality and show up for all LGBTQ+ Hoosiers. Join advocates, families, students, and allies for a day of community, learning, and action — because policy decisions made here shape real lives across our state.

Indiana’s ban on gender-affirming care (SEA 480) harms trans youth and families. Lawmakers must hear HB 1338 and let parents and physicians make the best choices.
Indiana's transgender youth healthcare ban, SEA 480, harms Hoosier youth and their families without providing any benefit. These restrictions, particularly the dangerous “aid and abet” provisions, disrupt care coordination and leave young patients with fragmented or inadequate medical care. Families seeking medically necessary care for their transgender youth out-of-state face heightened and unnecessary risks because Indiana doctors are prohibited from referring families, sharing care options, or collaborating with out-of-state providers.
In 2025, HB 1444 was introduced as a critical step towards reducing unnecessary harm, improving care for Hoosier youth, and supporting families. No parent or guardian should be denied the freedom to make the best decisions for their family, including accessing essential care for their transgender youth.
We urge the Indiana lawmakers to hear this year's bill, HB 1338.
