Dobbs Anniversary

One Year After Dobbs, the Fight for Abortion Access Continues in Indiana

June 24, 2023
For the past year, the ACLU of Indiana, our partners, and our supporters have taken to the streets, the Statehouse, and the courts to protect abortion access. Here's how.

One year ago, the U.S. Supreme Court issued a devastating ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization, dismantling the federal protections for abortion that have existed for nearly 50 years. The extreme decision overturning Roe v. Wade left the fate of an individual's reproductive rights up to the state politicians to decide. In the year since the Dobbs decision, abortion access has been jeopardized in states across the country. For the past year, the ACLU of Indiana, our partners, and our supporters have taken to the streets, the Statehouse, and the courts to protect abortion access.

The true goal of abortion opponents is clear: to eliminate access to abortion and control our bodies, lives and futures. Today, abortion remains legal in Indiana, but our fight for reproductive freedom is just as critical now as it has ever been. We’ve never backed down from this fight, and we never will.
