The ACLU of Indiana testified today in front of the Senate Education & Career Development Committee in opposition to SB 128

SCOTUS has declined to review a federal court ruling in favor of a transgender student and his family challenging a discriminatory restroom policy at an Indiana public school district. 

The ACLU of Indiana urged the U.S. Supreme Court to reject a petition from an Indiana school district targeting the rights of transgender students under Title IX.

The Indiana Department of Corrections is denying gender affirming surgery to a transgender woman who is currently incarcerated. The IDOC is acting as a result of a new law passed during the 2023 legislative session HEA 1569 - we're suing!

The courts have again affirmed that transgender students must have access to the bathrooms and locker rooms consistent with their gender identities. It upheld the lower courts’ preliminary injunctions, requiring two Indiana schools to provide equal treatment to transgender students.  

A federal court today issued a preliminary injunction blocking an Indiana law that prohibits health care professionals from providing or even referring transgender young people for medically necessary health care.

ACLU of Indiana files lawsuit claiming HEA 1608, violates teachers’ First Amendment rights and due process. The law was modeled after FL "Don't Say Gay" law and would censor conversations about the LGBTQ community.

HB 1608, a bill that would ban conversation about LGBTQ families in schools and outs transgender students, today was signed into law by Governor Holcomb.

The ACLU filed a lawsuit on behalf of four transgender youth and their families as well as a doctor, challenging an Indiana law that prohibits health care professionals from providing or even referring transgender young people for medically necessary health care.
