Be part of a values-aligned business community driving real change.
Let's show that doing good is good business.
In today’s climate, business leadership matters more than ever—and Hoosiers trust local small and medium-sized business owners when they speak out about why good government is good for business and their community.
The American Civil Liberties Union of Indiana helps business leaders speak loudly and clearly on pressing issues.
Lots of ways to be involved.
Advocating for civil liberties and civil rights means practicing your values in your business and in your community. We are looking to partner up with local and statewide leaders who are organizers, communicators, community builders, and trusted resources.
This can mean sharing information about upcoming elections, speaking with your elected officials in and out of the legislative session, inviting an ACLU-IN speaker to present a talk on policies affecting your community, or sharing your story with us, writing a letter to the editor of your local paper, speaking up at your local school board, and so much more.
Whether you are a practiced or burgeoning advocate, we can help you amplify your values.

What does it mean to share your views on laws and policies that affect the rights of Hoosiers?
The ACLU of Indiana began working closely with Indiana’s business community in response to anti-LGBTQ legislation proposed in 2015, the Religious Freedom Restoration Act. The intent of the legislation was, in part, to allow business owners to ignore local anti-discrimination ordinances. Indiana’s business community spoke out loudly and with conviction, leading to positive changes in the law.
And then, when Indiana’s legislature was the first in the nation to try to outlaw women’s access to reproductive freedom, 800 businesses across 90 cities and towns in Indiana signed on to a public letter. After the legislature was successful in outlawing nearly all forms of abortions, Indiana businesses have been active in our Let’s Talk About Abortion campaign.
In early 2024, Indiana businesses helped to motivate voter turnout with posters, coasters, and window clings, delivering information in their communities on voter registration and election dates. And right now, businesses are putting up ACLU-IN Hoosier Values posters and window clings to amplify that compassion and dissent are vital values that reflect their businesses and community.
