ACLU of Indiana Press Conference in Partnership with Exodus Refugee and the Muslim Alliance of Indiana

Contact: Ariella Sult, ACLU of Indiana, asult@aclu-in.org

WHAT: ACLU of Indiana will host a press conference in partnership with Exodus Refugee Immigration and the Muslim Alliance of Indiana, addressing the Supreme Court’s decision to uphold Trump’s Muslim ban. Representatives from each organization will answer questions about how this decision is affecting members of the Indianapolis Muslim community.

In a 5-4 ruling, the Supreme Court has allowed the Trump administration’s third Muslim ban to continue. The American Civil Liberties Union and partner organizations have challenged every version of the ban. Like previous versions, this ban blocks immigrants and temporary visitors from several Muslim-majority countries.

Jane Henegar, executive director of ACLU of Indiana, had this reaction to today’s decision:
“We are disappointed the Supreme Court is leaving the racism and xenophobia embedded in the administration’s policy unchecked. The Supreme Court’s decision will undoubtedly leave Hoosier community members separated from their families and loved ones abroad, without reason. It is up to the public here and across the country to continue to stand up against these unjust policies.”

WHO: ACLU of Indiana – Senior Staff Attorney, Gavin Rose
Exodus Refugee Immigration – Sara Hindi, Community Engagement Coordinator
